History of PT. Merrys Tour and Travel Service
Bali is known as the Island of the Gods and is one of the leading tourist destinations in Indonesia. Along with the increasing number of tourist visits from year to year, the tourism sector is predicted to continue to grow brightly in the future. The growth of this sector contributes significantly to national development, not only as one of the largest sources of foreign exchange after the oil and gas sector, but also as a provider of employment for the community.
One of the private sector's participation in supporting the development of tourism in Indonesia is the presence of PT Merrys Tour and Travel Service, a travel agent company based in Denpasar, Bali. The company markets its services through various media such as brochures, official websites, advertisements in national newspapers such as Kompas, Jakarta Post, and Pos Bali, as well as through participation in various travel exhibitions such as MATTA FAIR, Jogja Travel Fair, and Indonesia Travel and Holiday held at the Jakarta Convention Center. Specifically for MATTA FAIR, this event is an annual exhibition held in Malaysia every March and is attended by travel agents from all over Asia.
PT Merrys Tour and Travel Service provides a variety of services, including accommodation reservations (resorts, villas, hotels) and car rentals that include drivers and fuel. The company was established on September 1, 1992 by Mr. Misto Leo Faisal, who at that time was still working as Front Office Manager at Ramada Bintang Bali Kuta, a five-star hotel located in the Kartika Plaza area, Kuta, Bali.
At the beginning of the establishment, the company only had five employees and two cars, namely Kijang Super and L300. As the business grew and demand for services increased, the number of staff and vehicle fleet were increased to support the growing operations. Initially, the business operated under the name Merry Transport and only focused on car rental services. However, in 2001, the business was officially transformed into PT Merrys Tour and Travel Service with the addition of 18 new vehicles, including Innova, APV, and Kijang Capsule.
In the same year, the company also obtained an official permit as a Travel Agency through Business Permit No. 54 dated May 31, 2001, with license number 551.21/360/Diparda and NPWP 02.047.084.5.903.000. PT Merrys Tour and Travel Service is also a member of ASITA (Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies) since May 31, 2001 and renews its membership every five years.
Until 2022, PT Merrys Tour and Travel Service has successfully opened branches in Bandung, West Java, and Pasuruan, East Java. Until now PT Merrys Tour and Travel continues to operate in their respective branches.
